Given that service is being provided throughout the university, the Service Excellence Initiative is being led by a core team but requires the commitment and involvement of many departments across ASU.

The role of student-centric initiatives within the Office of the University Provost is to deliver data, tools and resources to student service units to engage and support them on the journey to delivering service excellence in every student interaction.

Crystal Gustavson

As assistant director of Student-Centric Communications, Crystal Gustavson has been tasked by the University Provost with identifying and implementing strategies and tactics to drive consistent and effective student communications across ASU. A two-time graduate of Arizona State University, Crystal joined the staff in 2010 as the Alumni Association’s Digital Media Manager, where she created engagement strategies and marketing campaigns. She also served as Online Editor for ASU Magazine, developing a digital presence for the university's largest print publication.

Knowledge Manager, Student-Centric Initiatives

J.T. Harris is the knowledge manager of Student-Centric Initiatives, a role focused towards establishing and improving ASU's knowledge base that allows the Office of the University Provost to share and distribute information with students, business and academic units. He joined ASU in 2014 with seven years of experience managing, maintaining, and optimizing knowledge management and customer relationship management systems. J.T. proudly supports the service excellence initiatives and takes great pride in working with faculty, staff and administration towards the continuous improvement of ASU's knowledge management system.

Raquel Garcia
Business Analyst, Student-Centric Initiatives

Raquel Garcia is the Business Analyst for Student-Centric Initiatives. She works as a liaison between Student-Centric Initiatives and various ASU departments assisting with review, analysis, implementation, and evaluation of business systems and user needs related to student-centric core systems, web applications, and user experiences. Raquel has worked in higher education since 2001. She has held various positions such as Compliance Office, Trainer, Business Analyst, Project Specialist, and Financial Aid Director. Her main focus has been on process enhancement. As extracurricular activities, she served on the Arizona Association of Financial Aid Administrators (AASFA) Board of Directors as Secretary from 2012-2014 and was Chair of the Awards and Scholarships Committee in 2014. She enjoys working in higher education, providing excellent customer service, and helping people achieve their business and educational goals.
